The rumors have always been that the only people that have good shows in Indianapolis are John Cougar Mellancamp and The Why Store. This theory was disproved last night by a great crowd at Birdy's for the show with ourselves, Southern Culture on the Skids and local heroes Indiana (the band, not the state). However, defeat was taken from the jaws of victory when one of Gary's guitars (an acoustic) was stolen from the back band room. The guitar was actually taken out of the case, and then walked right out the side door of the supposedly secure band room. Making things even stranger, a concertgoer actually spotted an acoustic guitar propped up against a wall just outside the club when the show had ended. As you can imagine, the end of the night devolved into finger pointing and speculation between us and the owner of the club as we all tried to make sense out of what happened. My theory is some drunk walked into the room by accident, found the gear, and then walked out the side door with the guitar. Then, thinking better of stealing the instrument, propped it up outside and walked away. Granted, that would have been easier for him than to walk back in the front door of the club with a guitar that clearly didn't belong to him. It just didn't work out real well for Gary. My guess is that someone then walked by moments later and said, "Cool. A guitar.", put it in their car and drove away. At least that version is better than thinking some asshole ripped us off on purpose.
If anyone has any idea of where this guitar is, please send us an email at whiskeydaredevils@hotmail.com . We'll pay to ship it back, no questions asked.
