A Weekend With The New Look Lords
by Whiskey Daredevils
Nov 6, 2008
The Whiskey Daredevils and the new age Lords of the Highway head East this weekend for a pair of shows in Buffalo and Erie. Can Jimbo hold down his end as the new Lord's bass player? Can Dennis step up and shoulder more of the live show? Let's all stand by and be judgmental with an overly critical eye together! We can say things with our arms crossed like, "Ahhh...I don't know....I think I liked 'em with Sugar better..." But wait, there's more! This will also be both towns chance to be critical of Gary Siperko, new Daredevil guitar slinger. How does he stack up against Bob? Are these new songs we wrote any good? So many questions swirling in the wind... We both know there's nothing else to do that's even remotely close in either town to being as fun as the show Friday at the Mohawk and Saturday at The Beer Mug. The Lords play first each night, so get there early for the whole Big Show. Even more importantly, the band will be hitting the casino in Niagara Falls on Saturday afternoon to turn the cash from the gig into what is being described as "real money". Make a weekend of it Daredevil style and join us for some "gaming"!

Allegedly we will be receiving the "Live in Berlin" CDs today/tomorrow at Daredevil HQ. "The Very Best of the Whiskey Daredevils" new studio release will be along "very shortly" according to German High Command. The discs are available now in Europe, and are probably in giant boxes on a tarmac at some exotic airport working towards the USA. Early pre orders on the disc have been really strong, and we'd like to thank all of you that are interested in what the hell we are doing. We can say confidently that this CD is much better than anything else out there right now on the Top 50 charts, if only because almost everything on the Top 50 charts is complete garbage.

The band continues to grind out new songs with last night's practice giving legs to "It Ain't Him" and "Left Me On a Train". Depending on how many comp Labatt Blues we get at the Mohawk, we might even play 'em. For those of you keeping track at home, that's nine new originals we'll be trotting out this weekend. Remember, if you're not moving ahead, you are falling behind.

See you this weekend...

Two New Albums and a Cowslingers Show
by Whiskey Daredevils
Oct 6, 2008
Thanks to everyone that drove out from surrounding states to see the off the cuff Cowslingers reunion show in Jamestown NY last Friday. It was a lot of fun to play all those songs again for everyone, and based on the response it seemed like everyone liked it. Hey, if we do it again, maybe next time we'll have a practice first! Or at least Leo will actually review the set list before sitting down behind the kit for the show...

At last, the new Whiskey Daredevils full length CD "The Very Best of the Whiskey Daredevils" is set for a 10/31 release date. Twelve all new hits recorded with John Smerek in Detroit's beautiful White Room Studios are sure to make everyone's year end Top 10 list. We'll be setting up pre order on the web site, so check back to make sure that you get yours before your creepy friends. This album is a motherload of monster hits, and we can say confidently it is ten times better than whatever crap you are listening to right now. (Unless you are listening to one of our other fabulous CDs, then this one might just be somewhat better...)

For those of you that can't get enough live Whiskey Daredevils (and frankly, who can't?), the Whiskey Daredevils complete 5/24/08 show from The Wild At Heart at Berlin is available absolutely free included in the October issue of German music magazine Moloko Plus. I can hear you now..."My God! That's amazing! How could such a thing be possible?" Well, the magazine has printed up Greg's European Tour Diary as the cover story, and Knock-Out records decided to provide the complete Berlin show as an added perk. Pick up a copy here... http://www.moloko-plus.de/shop/

The Whiskey Daredevils have confirmed a list of new shows. Look for the band join The Hot Rails and open up for the Dirt Bombs at the Beachland Ballroom on Friday Oct 17th. The Dirtbombs are one of those bands that get heavy rotation on our van playlist, but somehow we've never done a show with them. Everybody loves the Dirtbombs live (not just the cool kids with hipster thrift store red denim pants either). This is a highly recommended show. Other shows of interest include a multi band blowout at Cedars in Youngstown Oct 24th with Bob's Country Bunker and the Legendary Hucklebucks, a weekend with the "new look" Lords of the Highway in Buffalo/Erie Nov 7th and 8th, and our return to The Empty Glass Nov 22nd. Please note, Leo will be buying beer at the Empty Glass show to make up for his summer Indiana campout fuck up, so make sure and come very thirsty.

Buzzbomb Club - Gone; Daredevils - Onward and Upward
by Whiskey Daredevils
Sep 25, 2008
It came as no great surprise to see that the ill fated Buzzbomb Club has apparently closed in Chicago. The web site? Gone... The phone? Disconnected... Why someone was a big enough jackass to open up a club in the middle of nowhere, with the only driving path through The Hood, remains unanswered. However the quest to collect the band debt has not stopped. Lynzi Sholtz, the promoter of the event, (i.e. Z Bookings) has not returned a call or email. However, we remain undaunted in our efforts to collect this money, and will pursue legal action to collect. Here's her web page if you want to tell her she is lacking a certain amount of character http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=191975854 . Now legal hatchet man Ed Cleary is on the case and "a legal shitstorm" is brewing. Why do these dopes think they can get over on this organization?

Look for a whole bunch of Whiskey Daredevils new material in upcoming shows. The band has written a whole slew of new stuff with new guitarist Gary Popcorn (a.k.a. Gary Capo or "Rollerdog" ) including such future hits as "Never Saw Johnny Cash", "Smoking with the Patch", "Going Dutch", Percodan", "Party Plates" "Senorita" and "I Just Might".

For you Old Skool Daredevil fans, Bob Lanphier stepped up at the Ravari Room on Sat Sept 20th for a special "fill in for Gary because he has a Mofos gig in Rochester and we moved the date without checking first" gig. Although Bob has certainly missed the glory and notoriety of being a Whiskey Daredevil, ultimately it's the free Hound Dog's pizza that brought him back for this show.

Other shows on the horizon include a special gig with Dexter Romweber at the Jigsaw tonight - Thursday Sept 25th. Dexter is the real deal ladies and gents. He made a name for himself way back in the 80s as the driving force of the Flat Duo Jets, a great band that gave the White Stripes the idea of playing as a duo. Dexter is a walking encyclopedia of American roots styles, a fabulous guitar player, amazing singer, and flat out wild man. This is a weird venue for this show, so I hope people come check him out. It will be well worth the effort of missing Grey's Anatomy and/or Ugly Betty on TV.
