Congrats to Glen Harnden, Todd Simon, and Barb Little! They won the Whiskey Daredevils Bell's Brewery Adventure Saturday night complete with tickets for two to the show, a fancy Whiskey Daredevils t-shirt, and a few frosty cold Bell's beers. Daredevils Kick Off New Year
The Whiskey Daredevils are ready to ring in the New Year. There's a lot going on, so let's get to it. 1) The first stop of the 2012 Whiskey Daredevils MicroBrew Tour will be at Bell's in Kalamazoo MI. Want to make the road trip and drink good beer? We will put three fans on the guest list +1, give you a free Whiskey Wear t-shirt and provide some outstanding Bell's beer for your enjoyment. Send us an email at whiskeydaredevils@hotmail.com to say "yeah, I want to do that!". We'll even steer you to a good cheap hotel so you can sleep it off. A Saturday road trip to Bell's? Why not? If you win, we'll let you know by Thursday January 12th. 2) The band will debut four new songs starting at the Jan 13th show at the Brass Rail in Ft Wayne. Also of note, ex-Blue Moon Boy and guitar demi-god Kenny Taylor will reunite his old rocking blues band Tito Discovery for the gig. Look for lots of wailing guitar as Kenny and Gary go head to head! 3) Will Ruocco has made some limited edition Winter Tour posters for the upcoming shows. They sure are pretty. Steal them from the wall, or maybe we'll print up some extras to spruce up your squalid little homes. 4) The brand new vinyl only "Whiskey Daredevils Greatest Hits Vol 2" has shipped from Germany. When we get it, you can get it! As always, liquor is quicker but vinyl is final!
Whiskey Daredevils To Play SXSW
The Whiskey Daredevils have accepted an invitation to showcase at the 2012 South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin Texas this March. While the band does not harbor any misconceptions of being signed to a huge record deal and then making videos with Justin Beiber, they do anticipate playing with some cool bands, having uncomfortable conversations with other semi famous musicians, and generally having a good time. Maybe even tricking a legit booking agent into the fold. Dare to dream. The band is currently working out a plan to tour down to Texas and back with some of Ohio's finest rock bands, and selling t-shirts to unsuspecting people in places like Tennessee and Arkansas. We'll let you know the details as they emerge.
Look for the Whiskey Daredevils last show of 2011 at the Empty Glass in beautiful Charleston WV this Saturday night. Making things interesting will be that the band hasn't actually played together in weeks as Gary was busy with fill-in duties as guitar player in Rocket From the Tombs. The entire band went out to see him rip it up at the Beachland last weekend, and suffice to say he held up his end in style. Still, it would have been great if he could have taken the "Final Solution" solo at the end. Ah well... The game plan is to convene in the basement tonight and see if anyone remembers the songs.
In the last two weeks, we have sent out new CD orders to England, Finland, Norway, France, Spain, Germany, Oregon, Texas, New York City and Toledo. What's with you? You haven't bought the best country punkabilly record of 2011? It's cheaper than anywhere else right here, and all the money goes to the band. C'mon! Take a chance! We won't let you down.
